DAM PHU MY PACKAGING JOINT STOCK COMPANY

Set up on October 1, 2004, Dam Phu My Packaging Joint Stock Company (DPMP) was formerly the Huong Phong Package Production Factory run by Huong Phong Co., Ltd, which is directly administered by the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau. On May 19, 2008, it was transformed into a joint stock company with three founding shareholders, namely PetroVietnam Fertilizer and Chemicals Corporation, Huong Phong Co., Ltd and another shareholder. For DPMP, product quality is always an important element as it decides the company's brand prestige. Hence, its products are manufactured by modern and advanced production lines, equipment and technologies, imposed by strict quality control procedures and standards like ISO9001:2008, ISO9001:2008, ISO14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001:2007. Currently, DPMP is supplying a variety of packages for the domestic market and exporting fertilizer and cement packages. In addition, the company also turns out other products such as PP yarn, PP fabric and PK fabric. Since 2008, DPMP has supplied 100 percent of fertilizer packages to Petro Vietnam Fertilizer and Chemicals Corporation (PVFCCo), estimated at 16 million bags a year. In the past years, the company is a major supplier of cement bags for most cement production companies in southern Vietnam, including Lafarge Cement, Nghi Son Cement, FICO Cement, Cam Pha Cement, Ha Long Cement and Thang Long Cement. With its ongoing efforts to increase product quality and improve technology, customers are always satisfied with the company's package quality and services. Thus, the supply volume for traditional customers is on the stable increase. Specifically, the number of packages supplied to the market keeps soaring year after year (from 26 million packages in 2006 to 44 million in 2013 and estimates for 2014 is 50 million). Notably, in 2013, it exported 5 million bags to many foreign markets like Brazil, Costa Rica, Indonesia and Thailand, equal to nearly 12 percent of its sales. This was also the first year the company exported its products to foreign markets (form April, 2014). The penetration of export markets has opened up huge opportunities for the company as domestic sales have slowly increased. DPMP is always very active in social responsibility activities. It raises funds to support the poor during the Lunar New Year, present gifts to families with huge contributions and sacrifices to national liberation, hand scholarships to poor students with remarkable study records in Tan Thanh district. Each year, it spends some VND200 million on social activities. When it started to export its products to foreign markets, DPMP also worked out policies and steps to penetrate into the Japanese market. Deputy Director Pham Ngoc Thiep said "To attract and cooperate with Japanese companies effectively, the company needs the following supports from the provincial government: human resources, administrative procedures, stable policies, and good legal system." Based on its achievements, DPMP is confident to become a powerful package manufacturer and supplier in the country in scale, variety and quality.
